Format


With the format command you can erase a complete drive. In contrast to delete command the format command erases the complete data of the file. Undeleting with recovery software is not possible.

Example:

D:\>Format C:

WARNING, ALL DATA ON NON-REMOVABLE DISK
DRIVE C: WILL BE LOST!
Proceed with Format (Y/N)? y

Parameters

/Q This option performs a 'quick format' (in fact, this is deleting). 
/B  Allocates space on the formatted disk for system files. 
/S Copies system files to the formatted disk (Command.com, io.sys and msdos.sys). 
/C Tests the drive also for bad clusters.
