With the echo command you can put a message on the screen. You can also hide the DOS prompt with this command

Put a message on the screen
With echo you can put a message on the screen. You can use this if you want to write a script in Batch.

Example 1:

C:\>echo Hello world
Hello world


The 7th ASCII character is a bleep sound. You can also make this sound using the echo command. Type 'echo' with a space after it and then press Ctrl-C. When you see ^G appearing on your screen, you hear a beep sound.

Example 2:

C:\>echo ^G


Result:
Your PC speaker makes a beep sound.

Remove the DOS prompt
If you want to remove the DOS prompt, type 'echo off':

Example:

C:\>echo off


You can make your prompt visible with 'echo on':

echo on
